This album features Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, later shortened to Dr. Hook, an American rock band formed around Union City, New Jersey. Known for hit singles like "Sylvia's Mother," "The Cover of the Rolling Stone," "A Little Bit More," and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman," they enjoyed significant commercial success in the 1970s. The band's repertoire included songs written by poet Shel Silverstein, and they had eight years of regular chart hits in both the U.S. and the UK. Dr. Hook found their greatest success with their later, gentler material.
